6th Grade had many adventures in the Cyber Jungle - Check out some of them below!
End of Year Reflections
6th Grade completed a survey at the end of the year about the projects and activities that they completed this year in Computer Class. After they had finished the survey, they created a Voki response to share what their favorite project or activity was. To listen to the Voki reponses, click on the text bubble.
Keyboarding is an essential skill that our Middle School students need during Middle School and beyond. At St. Martin's it is our goal that students achieve a typing speed of 5 times their grade level which means we would like 6th Grade students to be typing at 30WPM or more. Grading in keyboarding is not, however, based on speed since all students start at different levels. Grading is based on correct technique and accuracy however we do track speed and have each student set a speed goal based on their starting speed. All but one student in 6th Grade increased in speed this year and more than 1/2 of the students achieved at least 90% of their goal.
Internet Safety
The primary focus of 6th Grade's Internet Safety unit is on Cyber-Bullying. After 6th Grade watched Episode 1 of Adina's Deck they created comics (serious or funny) about Cyber-Bullying.
Thanksgiving means turkeys and Middle School students used KidPix to create a turkey this year and Mrs. Sedgwick used Animoto to put them all into a fun slideshow.
As a celebration of fall, Middle School students created a person out of a photo of a leaf and then wrote a Bio Poem for their leaf person. Click the image below to view the leaf people and poems.
